It is based in MADA’s learning spaces and galleries with a variety of projects from over 300 students that have studied in either the art, design, or architecture disciplines. The work showcased includes; paintings, sculptures, sound pieces, architectural models, industrial design prototypes, communication design artwork, illustrations, and animations.
We were delighted to attend this year's MADA Now exhibition. Some of the incredible industrial design projects showcased included the following:
Blume
Blume is a revolutionary and innovative appliance that creates an ideal environment for Spirulina to thrive and multiply in. Spirulina is a micro-algae ‘superfood’ that is rich in most nutrients required for a balanced diet and that reproduces indefinitely. Blume is, therefore, an indefinite source of the most nutrient dense food, that is also highly environment-friendly through the algae’s high consumption of Carbon Dioxide.

Blok Knife Sharpener by Annemarie Sia
“Blok is a knife sharpener, designed to be seen and used everyday. Statistics show that knives are thrown away rather than sharpened because people either do not own a honing steel or sharpener. This is a response to the problem and acts as a sculptural piece that carries the utilitarian functions of a knife sharpener, stand and organiser. It acts as a constant reminder to sharpen kitchen knives and makes the task convenient.” - Annemarrie Sia.
