CRCX Helmet Design - Australian Defence Force
Defence Helmet design to reduce traumatic brain injury
ild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), and the resulting long lasting impact, is a significant problem for Soldiers within the Australian defence forces and globally. Hone Product Design have worked as Project Design leaders in collaboration with partners including Melbourne University, Horizon Defence Systems, and Aegis-X to execute the first stage of the CRCX Helmet development program. A Defence Innovation Hub contract awarded to project Leading partner Sord Australia.
hone.pd, in collaboration with Melbourne University have via an iterative design and test process including blast, ballistic & blunt trauma simulation shown the potential to use these technologies to iteratively optimise helmet designs to reduce brain trauma outcomes. In the subsequent project stages, the Safety product design project will continue working to develop the helmet solution for physical testing with Melbourne University’s state of the art CAREN facility.
